The Zimbabwe Competence Based Curriculum (CBC) was developed with the aim of providing a more comprehensive framework for basic education. Infant education, also referred to as Early Childhood Development (ECD) curriculum in this paper, forms the foundation of all subsequent learning through the development of an array of requisite skills. The Zimbabwe Infant curriculum thrives to do that, however, as the curriculum was set to expire in 2022, it is important to assess its effectiveness and suggest areas for improvement. The major objective of this position paper is to present findings of a desk review of the existing Infant education / ECD curriculum which constituted document analysis of the syllabi and supporting documents, with a focus to determine the strengths, weaknesses and gaps, and proffer recommendations for the future. By doing so, it is hoped that the ECD education in Zimbabwe continues to offer high quality opportunities for early years learning and that children are better prepared for success in both school and life.en_US
