Rethinking Education Systems in the Fourth Industrial Revolution Conference Report
Abstract
Mr. Wayoga welcomed participants to the event and thanked them for their com- mitment to the provision of quality education in Tanzania. He further introduced the main theme "Rethinking Education Systems in the Fourth Industrial Revolu- tion” and how it seeks to re-assess the education system in our countries in light of the Industrial Revolution. The meeting was expected to come up with a list of what is needed in the 4th Industrial Revolution and how Africa can update itself on these technological advancements. He then introduced representatives from PO-RALG, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST), Global Affairs Canada, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), the Swedish Embassy, World Bank (WB), Members of Parliament from Zimbabwe, Regional Program Manager from EOL, National Education Coalitions, EOL OC3 grantees, representa- tives from Lesotho, Zambia, Uganda, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, Malawi, Mo- zambique, and Tanzania. Other participants included representatives from the Teachers Union, East Africa Teachers Federation, students from all levels, the private sector, media representatives, moderators, and panelists. He further intro- duced the sponsors, the Secretariat and Organizing Committee.
